Annual Meeting FY 2024 - Celebrating a great year!
Ways & Means Chair Marla Freeman, Guest Gloria Markussen, and 1st VP Judy Amiano enjoying the Cozzena shopping boutique
Our June 2nd annual meeting was a wonderful opportunity for members to shop, sip, and celebrate a very impressive fiscal year. Treasurer Donna Childress presented a brief power point highlighting our accomplishments in 2023/24. In case you missed it, here are the highlights:
DPWC more than doubled our annual philanthropic contributions
Community House rental revenue grew 91%
Completed over $50,000 in renovations, (thank you, OC Supervisor Katrina Foley for a very helpful $35,000 grant!)
Increased prudent reserves 5-fold
Our new board was formally installed: Congratulations to your FY 24/25 Board: Kathy Belanger, President, Judy Amiano 1st Vice President, Jill Robinson 2nd Vice President/Membership, Donna Childress, Treasurer, Carol Kelly, Secretary, Marla Freeman, Ways & Means Director, Toni Nelson Public Relations Director, Jody Hughes, Community House Rental Director and Monique Woolf, Community House Facility Director.
Members and guests enjoyed a welcome champagne toast and charcuterie, wonderful appetizers and bubbly conversation as they shopped the Cozenna boutique. 20% of member purchases benefited DPWC's philanthropies ($751 donation).
Community House Cleaning Party
A happy crew of hardworking workers scrubbed and sorted our Clubhouse till it shone!
Our second annual Housecleaning party was a huge success! Our intrepid team tore the old shelving out of the storage room, installed new shelving and sorted boxes of vases and decor. Volunteers tackled the storage closet and reorganized our china and supplies while the linens crew measured and folded tablecloths. The kitchen team scrubbed the cupboards and counters till they gleamed, while the furniture cleaners washed down 100 chairs and all our tables! Phew. We got a lot done and the Community House looks great. Thank you to Jody Hughes and our amazing crew of hardworking, funloving volunteers!
Clubhouse Updates, Phase 2
Here's a sneak peak of our new updates at Community House. Two beautiful signs sporting our new logo have been mounted near the front doors on San Juan Avenue and the side door in the parking lot. Inside, we've added air conditioning, new fans, beautiful new lights and a brand new white ceiling (after SIX coats of paint)! We're saving the big reveal for late July once we have new photos for our brochures and other promotions. Check our Facebook page for photos in late July or wait for a lovely surprise when you return for our Back to School meeting on September 5th. Thank you to Community House Rentals Director Jody Hughes and our talented member and designer, Lori Roskopf for a truly beautiful transformation. Stay tuned for some outdoor improvements too. The Garden Gals (Judy Amiano, Penny Wetton and Maryellen Marsh) are hard at work on planters that will attractively screen our neighbor and enhance our outdoor events.
