DPWC Gets Back to Philanthropy!
Members were delighted to reconnect at the September 5th luncheon meeting
DPWC welcomed members back to school and back to philanthropy, with a lively, well attended luncheon featuring guest speaker CUSD Superintendent, Dr. Christopher Brown. RH Dana Prinicpal Kristen Nelson was on hand to thank us for our back to school book drive benefiting RH Dana's school library. Members also donated over 250 lbs of peanut butter, proteins and pantry staples to our Project FAM, benefiting the Family Assistance Ministries' food bank. Other dignitarires in attendance were Amy Hanacek, CUSD Trustee and DPWC member, along with County Supervisor and Honorary DPWC Member Katrina Foley's representative, Tyler Mosher. Members "Sip & Savor" at Girls' Night Out!
Our first FY 24/25 Girls' Night Out with Family & Friends was a sold out "Sip & Savor" event at Bottega Angelina in Laguna Niguel. Members and guests enjoyed sampling 5 wonderful Italian wines accompanied by 3 finely crafted small plates followed by a delightful panna cotta served in exquisite and colorful glass bowls.
The assembled guests were treated to very interesting talks by two wine experts who regaled them with tales and photos from each of the selected wineries located in beautiful locales throughout Italy. It was a lively and educational evening and a fun opportunity to mix and mingle with members, their spouses and friends. Kudos to Ways & Means Chair Marla Freeman for planning a great night out!

Thank you to our Wonderful Treasurer!
orporate finan
Did you know that our new corporate By-laws require that two qualified members (or outside appointees) who have no responsiblity for financial records review our annual financial statements and records each year? Our Treasurer, Donna Childress, was responsible for setting up a new chart of accounts and accounting system for the combined operations of Community House and DPWC when we became one entity on June 1, 2023. She also tracks all our monthly revenue and expenses and produces monthly financial statements for the Board, usually within a week of month end. The books were reviewed (this is a limited scope analysis, and not a statutory audit) by members Monique Marshall, RMA, AIF, a wealth advisor , and Toni Nelson, a retired CPA, (thank you, Monique and Toni!) who reported to the Board that they found no errors or exceptions and were impressed to find the books in such excellent order. Please be sure to thank Donna for her outstanding service to DPWC.
Community House is ready for fall!
Thank you to our very talented member, floral designer Julie Aros, who added a large basket of bright autumn leaves to the hearth and a lovely fall arrangement to the mantle to get Community House ready for the coming season. Brand new member Kim Shore donated the pottery vase and Julie worked her magic in minutes. Thank you, Jules and Kim! And thank you also to our talented facilities contractor, Mike Wolff, who spiffed up the fireplace with a new coat of paint to help Julie's work pop!
Member Survey coming your way soon!
Our 1st Vice President, Judy Amiano, has been hard at work on a member survey which should be coming to your in box in the coming week. this is your chance to weigh in on meeting times, formats and more. Be sure to respond. Your opinion matters!
