Dana Point Women’s Club (DPWC) is pleased to announce that it will be hosting two community donation drives at its upcoming Membership meeting to be held at Community House on Thursday, September 7th at 11 AM. Members of the public are invited to drop off donations for the following philanthropic drives:
Project Literacy Book Drive: Each fall DPWC focuses on one of Dana Point’s two local elementary schools. Last year it sponsored a book drive for RH Dana, and this year the Club is focusing on Palisades Elementary School in Capistrano Beach. Members of the public are encouraged to join our members in purchasing a book or two from Palisades' Library Book Wish List using this Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/449RFOCHWAGP?ref_=wl_share The books are mainly hard cover editions, which tend to fare better with many little hands opening them over the years. Books may be sent directly to the school (choose that option on Amazon) or brought to Community House on September 7th (see address below).
Project FAM PB & J Drive: With recent rising grocery prices, Family Assistance Ministries has been inundated with requests for food. In keeping with its Back to School theme, DPWC is asking its members and the public to bring a donation of peanut butter (and a little jam if desired) to the meeting. Peanut butter is a very popular protein food that helps families keep growing kids satisfied.
Please drop off donations of books and/or peanut butter and jam between 10AM and 12 PM at Community House, 24642 San Juan Avenue, Dana Point, CA 92629 where boxes will be waiting on the patio off the side parking lot.
In keeping with its Project Literacy theme, the Club is delighted to host Rebecca Bailey, Principal of Palisades Elementary along with Sharon Miller and Laura Casellas of the South Coast Literacy Council for lunch and brief presentations.
Dana Point Women’s Club has served the local South Orange County community since 1951. It’s philanthropic programs aim to honor its motto - strengthening community - focusing on the needs of local, South Orange County women, children and families in the spheres of poverty, homelessness prevention, literacy and education.
