DPWC Members Mingle, Jingle and Shop!

DPWC members Maggie Arquilla, Karin Marsh and Deborah Hartman share a toast at December’s super fun “Mingle & Jingle” holiday luncheon

December's Holiday Luncheon was pure fun, with cranberry/champagne toasts, a lovely lunch, tons of camaraderie, and the opportunity to browse holiday offerings from 11 unique vendors. It was a festive event, with lots of time for "mingling and jingling!" Check out our Facebook Page for a fun reel of photos from the event. (And please LIKE our page while you're there!)

Our 1st VP, Judy Amiano received a lovely note from one of the vendors that she wanted to share with you:

Project Angel Tree

Ways & Means Chair Marla Freeman and her committee gathered, organized, wrapped and delivered Christmas gifts donated by our generous members as part of our beloved Project Angel Tree. This year, DPWC members made the holidays brighter for 51 kids from 24 families enrolled in United Way's SparkPoint program which is aimed at preventing homelessness and providing assistance to some of South Orange County's neediest families. DPWC's in kind donations, including donations of coats for kids through Supervisors Foley's annual coat drive totaled close to $5,000.

DPWC's Project Angel Tree, which provided gifts for 3 cohorts, plus contributions for one cohort through the City of Dana Point's Youth Program, and contributions from the County Fifth Distric's coat drive, all 69 kids in the South Orange County 2024 SparkPoint Program received several gifts from their wish lists, and a warm winter jacket or coat! Thank you to all who participated in this wonderful, heartwarming effort!

The Orange District's January Call features the January District Council Meeting which will be held January 10th at El Adobe in San Juan Capistrano. The featured speaker will be Chritopher Berry rom The Orange County Fire Authority who will be sharing important information regarding disaster preparedness for fires, earthquakes, and suggesting appropriate disaster kits for our Club. Board nominations for FY 24/25

It's not too early to start considering if you'd like to join DPWC's Board for a rewarding chance to become more involved in day to day Club planning, administration and policies. This year, the positions of Secretary, President, Treasurer, Ways & Means and Community House Rentals Chair will be open. Members (including incumbents) may nominate themselves or others at our March meeting. In addition, a nominating committee has been appointed by the Board in accordance with our By-Laws and will include Chair Monique Wolff, and Board member Judy Amiano along with one member at large (to be appointed soon,). They will be actively recruiting and will present a nomination slate to the membership at our April meeting in advance of our May voting meeting. Should you be interested in any of these positions, please contact Monique Wolff for more information.
